I print up to 22 x 28 or 30 inches (2.5 cm/inch) with the carbon pigments on matte paper, and a "single" (in focus) M9 frame looks very good from normal viewing distance at that size. However, upon very close inspection, the detail freaks among us (me included) would notice that it's a slight stretch for the M9. I don't know if more MP, however, would increase my sales at all. (More MP would, I think, increase my fun, however!) I'm about to take my Claria/Noritsu dye on metallic paper medium up to 17 inches on an Epson 4000. At 13" (Epson 1400) the M9 images have allowed me -- for the first time -- to compete with (out sell) the painters in Gallery Los Olivos in mixed media, front-room, all-member shows. The people off the street that we sell to at that gallery may not know it, but their visual processing systems are causing them to see more that they've ever seen in a photo. At 13" more than the M9 has is not need. 18 really well done MPs sell. I'll see if the same magic holds for 17 inch wide metallic photos. (Also, a color 13" metallic is going in the January All Member show to see if a full frame M9 color print has the same effect.) Paul www.PaulRoark.com
