The M8 was introduced in late 2006; I bought mine in late 2008, when it was being heavily discounted in anticipation of the launch of the M9, for something like half of the original price. It still makes good pictures, more than 4 years later. For some strange reason, the introduction of the M9, M10 and M black & white has not caused the M8 to break down.
