Frankly the only photographer anyone could normally think of who did not do his own printing was HCB. He stood alone. He just had too much money and to much ADD to waist in the darkroom. I know I saw his very early prints. That and he worked very closely with his darkroom guy. Were they any others? I cant name one can you? Now with printing made much easier in digital you'd think the percentage would be much less. Its not its more. And now we can add Salgato to the very short list of image makers who don't make their own images. That said he works very closely, as HCB with his printers who are hands on non automated in any way custom printers. Nothing resembling a "machine print". Its not like the deal we have now where you receive a "fine art Print" as advertized by the factory which makes them which as untouched by human hands and certainly not even seen first by the photographer. And printed on paper which a sheen to it which makes one reminisce about Walgreens.
