It can be ponderous on that first shot because I have to take a light reading and transfer the info to the camera. For me operating meters has always been problematic: I tend to forget what I've just read on the meter. But once I'm set, there is no finer camera -- well,my Rollei was the same in responsiveness -- for getting the shot I see. On the other hand, I've been toting a Fujifilm X-100 for a over a year, and I've become enamored of its superb image quality even at ISO 6400, and its versatility: in-camera panoramas, video, 8 frames/second, full auto to almost full manual, and the OVF/EVF feature. And I can't help wondering what it would be like to have an M that can do all this and still behave like an M.
