I found an absolute pristine area, with an educated populace, but with very little development in terms of jobs - so most Mizos leave the state to work elsewhere in India, though I have found homesickness always pulls them back after a few years. I had gone on a spot of work, so did not have too much time to explore the place and consequently photograph it, and it was raining very heavily the only few hours I had free. Aizwal is an ugly city close up, though from a distance it can look quite alluring, with structures tumbling down hillsides haphazardly, in a mass of concrete and a welter of cables. However, traffic moves up and down the narrow streets reasonably efficiently, and the drivers are most patient, and most surprisingly for this part of the world, do not use the horn at all!: Colour: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1370.jpg.html B&W: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1423.jpg.html The only time I attempted some sightseeing, it poured very heavily, and our team took refuge in a small, dark and dingy hut/restaurant in the middle of nowhere for a cup of tea. There were a few other people doing the same, as well as the proprietor and his family: Smile!: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1380.jpg.html Naren: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1387.jpg.html Sitting It Out (Colour): http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1386.jpg.html Sitting It Out (B&W): http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1386BW.jpg.html Dinner: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/India/DSCF1398.jpg.html Please see LARGE Comments and criticism, as ever, welcome Cheers Jayanand
