I would guess this happens with Canons also? I would say this is a normal thing and nothing to be worried about. I am doing a few tests and swapped a Monochrom formatted card into the M9. My Monochrom is set to number L2***** and creates a 200LEICA folder. If I put an M9 formatted card in (100LEICA folder) it creates its own folder and continues numbering.
