But as I see it, the two principal reasons are (1) the glass, which we all agree is second to none, and (2) for some the manual rangefinder focusing. Of course there are other reasons (neck jewellery etc.) but now we are talking about people who buy it for photography, not for bling. So, as I see it, Fuji is very close to Leica image quality, certainly at high ISO speeds. It does not give us the rangefinder focusing that we, who came to Leica M8/M9/Mx from the film world, like, but instead it gives good autofocus, a truly great combined electronic and optical viewfinder, and an extremely ingenious implementation of macro, and now, we learn, zoom--something that Leica was unable to address neither in the film days nor now, its only attempt being the less-than-successful Tri-Elmar. So I think the conclusion that the X Pro 1 provides strong competition to the M9 is accurate.
