If each camera were 8mp, allowing for overlap you could easily come up with a 2.5gp camera, and even with pixel binning for better quality you could have a very high quality 500mp camera. Give the camera an extra 3mm thickness for the extra battery power, hardware and maybe a tripod socket and thunderbolt port, and you'd have your digital 8x10 camera, handholdable if desired and with endless depth of field. On the latter front, you can certainly reduce that with software if needed and also simulate movements. There's an iPad to get excited about.
