the mask is that of "The Doctor"; the long nose was meant to protect  
them from infectious diseases mainly the plague. I suppose your model  
knew as I can see the black leather bag - not the one found in the  
cloakroom of the Brighton line at Victoria, immaterial as the line may  
be - and a stetoscope.
