Subject: [Leica] The Fishbowl - improved?

I use a R3000 I got at a close out price not too many months ago. At least I
thought I see its not been replaced by a newer model yet as I thought was
going to happen. I'm guessing it's probably dominated the market for several
years not this model. More serious people will use a 17 inch 3880.
But the D300is a 13 incher. Will print 13x19's. My last show was in
Manchester UK and I printed 11x17's for them. Some where cut down to
11x14's. 11x14's in the past were the default size for a photographers
portfolio. And sometimes their shows but it got to be more people were doing
16x20's. In the 90's.
I print a lot of 5x7's now and carry them around with me. Its my default.
A quick check I see them being sold now for $749. I think there's a rebate
which takes 100 off. I see on the Epson site its sold for 649 usd with the
rebate they are mention. I'm surprised its still there I thought they were
on the way out.
inks are pigment not dye so its thought to have a nice print life so its
good for a gallery show or serious collector. Your market.
If your price point is higher get a 17 inch model. I had one before but
could not at this point in my new life in NY make use of a 17x22 inch print.
Many of my shows have been 16 x 20's so a 13x19 is a kinder and gentler
version of that. And a 17x22 is that on steroids.
The R3000 is great for B&W as well as color and is great for mat as I use
but can do gloss a look which we wanted for darkroom work but we don't for
inkjet. We want 100% rag paper which is matt. The blacks are better than we
ever got in the darkroom even with special developers.
