I am strongly of the opinion that *any* fast pre-digital Leica M glass _must_ be focus calibrated to be useable wide open on an M8, 9, MM etc - *any* digital Leica. The tolerances required to focus accurately on a sensor are tighter and Leica developed methods to meet them. Newer glass is less likely to need this, but I have also noticed that with use everything wanders and needs periodic re-calibration. I send everything off every ~2 years, or else if my periodic checks show something has changed.
