After it is saved as a raw tiff (Silverfast's term), I import it into LR4,
convert it to a DNG and work on it just like any other raw file. I usually
start with Auto Tone and sometimes don't need to do anything more. Lately,
I've been playing with Superstition - the trial name for PSCS6. I was one
of the beta testers and really like what you can do with Highlight/Shadows
to pull details out of the shadows. I like the look but I'm gathering from
some comments that others don't. I think Adobe will have made some changes
in PSCS6 by the time it is released, so I may have to learn all of the new
features again. Nothing that I've done is destructive. I'm working on
copies so the original DNG file hasn't been touched. The Silverfast
software that runs the scanner refers to the program I use as 48 bit HDR
Color and I do believe it squeezes every bit of information out of the
film. What you do with all of that information is what makes it look HDR
or not.
