That moment seems like a photograph, where everything just froze. I can still picture the look on the elevator operator's face (yes, there were once people who ran the elevators). A few days later I saw Oswald get shot on live television. I did see the moon landing live, and seem to also remember a bulletin later that day with news of someone who drove a car off a bridge back East somewhere. Now if you want to hear someone with really good stories, watch the film "The Man From Earth". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/ Ken On 4/18/2012 3:43 PM, Geoff Hopkinson wrote: > When the news of the Titanic sinking arrived, Ted had already finished his > photo lecture cruise duties and had rowed ahead to New York for his next > assignment where was supposed to cover the ship's arrival! > > Cheers, > Geoff > http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman > > > > On 19 April 2012 02:22,<grduprey at mchsi.com> wrote: > >> I was in German language class. >> >> gene >> >> ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "George Lottermoser"<imagist3 at mac.com> >> To: "Leica Users Group"<lug at leica-users.org> >> Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 9:12:59 AM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central >> Subject: Re: [Leica] Titanic and Kennedy >> >> >> On Apr 18, 2012, at 3:49 AM, H&ECummer wrote: >> >>> Hello Luggers, >>> I was in third year Commerce and head of the University radio station. >> Somebody phoned me about the assassination. >>> We had a fixed line feed from one of the local radio stations that was >> broadcasting bulletins from the American networks every few minutes. >>> We plugged into that and broadcast to all the campus lounges and >> cafeterias.
