I'm a little embarrassed to say that I hadn't considered the focusing screen. I've seen replacement screens...need to think about that. Same as Philippe said but I have changed my focussing screen to one for faster lenses which makes for easier focussing. I guess live-view helps on suitable bodies for tripod mounted stuff. Results are very pleasing john -----Original Message----- John, I don't own the lens, but the Macro Elmarit 60 I converted works fine on the D700. Two downsides though: - the VF is (very) hard to use for accurate focusing - the auto aperture doesn't work so it's either hit or miss if shooting wide open, or a tripod, or nothing if you close down - I mean first focus then close down here. OTT the ISO capability of the body might help with the longer 100mm Philippe at Mutz Interested in experiences, opinions, etc. from people using the 100mm Apo-Macro-Elmarit on a Nikon DSLR, especially the FX flavors...thanks in advance. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
