This body can replace my D300 and D700. I have pretty much used my Nikon D3X exclusively for the past year and a half. There is no substitute for high resolution and large crop potential. Even on my D3X I very frequently shoot at ISO 1600 and up to 6400 if I stay in the 14" X 17" print size. I'm a single shot shooter and don't need anything faster then one frame per second.
