I am anxiously awaiting my second Leica, albeit my first digital one., that will be arriving later this week. I have been shooting for a while now. My dad started me on his Nikon F2 and I fell in love with photography from there. Mostly, I shoot for pleasure, though I do do some studio work for my job. I am a designer and sometimes need to do a quick product shot. A while back I bought a Minilux and it still comes with me on every bit of travel I do. I wanted something that I could point, shoot, and capture something quickly merely because it was always in my pocket. It is a great little camera. My digital workhorse has been a Canon 20D that I bought when they were hot, and fresh, and young. The time came when it was time for something a bit more interesting. I have two small children. I am only going to have one chance to capture images of them when they are this age. And I wanted something that would challenge my photography skills and make my life interesting. After a good deal of research, I settled on a lightly-used M8. I couldn't justify spending the additional $2k - $4k to get into an M8.2 or an M9. So, the shutter noise shouldn't be a problem with my "subjects" and I don't mind the smaller sensor. Along with the body, I opted for the Summicron 50mm lens which seems to be a good starter lens to get into using a rangefinder camera. I am now waiting for the mailman to bring me several small, heavy boxes. Looking forward to learning some things here. Thanks for listening.
