I hope you get more commissions in 2012, and have a lens suitable for 
paintings.  I do all the photos of art at our lab and I've found the 24-105 
has barrel distortion.  FWIW, I use the Canon 85mm f/1.8 and a 55mm f/3.5 
Micro-Nikkor for most of the shots, along with a polarizer on the lens and 
two Kodak Pola-Lights when possible.
