A very simple Southern cornbread recipe: 3 tablespoons bacon fat 2 eggs 1 1/2 cups cornmeal 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 1/4 cups buttermilk Heat bacon fat in cast iron skillet. Mix other ingredients. Add hot fat. Pour into hot skillet and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Eat hot with lots of butter! Enjoy!
