I think the DOF of a 90 @ f/3,4 is pretty thin, especially the closer you are. There is a sharp spot about 2/3s into the image; behind the first couple of crab legs/claws. So, if the EXIF is correct at 3,4 (which with the M it may not be), the shallow DOF would be expected. Tough call, eh? Either pump the ISO up and be able to use a higher f-stop, or lower your shutter speed and get more motion. Don't you hate physics! ;-) One thing you can do is to find a chair or a wall to rest a camera on. That should get you at least 2 stops more... But the image is delicious as is, so this is just post game analyzing... You did the two most important things, you had a camera and you took the shot! I've enjoyed it.
