The happy eyes of storm chaser anchors and showy correspondents really has grown insulting. I fear that continual over pumping the dangers may lead to a "cry wolf" scenario, with residents at some point not taking the reports seriously. overhyping also leads to a more dangerous environment as people rush around clearing store shelves and drive distracted I started suffering from storm anxiety some years ago, not coincidentally beginning in my first years home ownership and working as a news photographers. It still presents problems for me as people around me continually talk storm and panic. I avoid television news in pre storm periods.
