Also a comparisons to the 50 Summicron is not so great as that's a way old design which as been overtaken by so many others. And that was my first lens and it sure convinced me Leica was a good way to fly. Later on with some modern cutting edge Aspherics like the 90 or 35 Summicrons and I was super sold. Still am. And still think Leica's "Kodachrome" is "Summicron". Only the latter is still with us. -- Mark R. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/lugalrabs/ > From: Gene duprey <grduprey at mchsi.com> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Date: Mon, 22 Aug 2011 13:12:55 -0500 (CDT) > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Subject: Re: [Leica] Leica 40mm CL lens > > Larry, > > No snobbery at my end, just remembering what the press at that time said. > As > for me I have several Canadian Leica Lenses and 2 Japanese made Leica > lenses. > Of the Japan made lenses, the 28~70 (early version) is optically a good > performer, but the mechanicals are poor at best.
