It takes a bit of processing power to DSP filter.... The M8 has 1 processor, the M9 has 2 of the same.... ( I used to work for the company that makes the DSP processor chip)..... These are some of the issues... did the original spec call for no AA filter? Did the processor(s) selected for the price point have sufficient power to do the job? Was there space inside the camera for all the "stuff"? Are the lenses for use with the camera of sufficient quality that it makes a difference? Keep in mind that the AA filter is probably a pretty cheap solution ( think in terms of a coating on a piece of glass) ... a second processor is not.
