Let me add a few more:

Photoshop - thery had branches on 32nd st and on Lexington Ave around 40th 
st IIRC.
Meta Photo - 37th & Madison
Harvey Photo Exchange - near 40th & Park Ave.

Ther were a couple more, but their name escapes me now.

Is Alkit still around?

Profoto is indeed the corrrect name.
