Nikon is still king here - and yes I edit both Canon & Nikon. The D700 is "old" but with the earthquake there may not be another semi-pro full frame body til after xmas. The D7000 except for some missing pro features and smaller sensor, is nearly identical to the D700 in function. My personal preference is the bigger more sturdy D3 series but I think you should go for the D700.
