If I develop Kodak film of any kind in Rodinal, the developer turns deep purple. If I develop the same films in D-76 or Tmax Developer, no purple! I've gotten this same result with Tri-X, Plus-X, Tmax 100, and Tmax 400. Agfa films also turned Rodinal purple. D-76 and Tmax Developer do not turn purple with any film I have tried. PMK doesn't go purple either. -- Chris Crawford Fine Art Photography Fort Wayne, Indiana 260-486-2581 http://www.chriscrawfordphoto.com My portfolio http://blog.chriscrawfordphoto.com My latest work! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-Crawford/48229272798 Become a fan on Facebook On 7/16/11 10:16 PM, "Jim Shulman" <jshulman at judgecrater.com> wrote: > Answer is the dye in the film, used for the paper backing. > If you wash Tri-X 120, you see a similar type of dye in a pre-wash. > Efke usually requires a water pre-wash, which gave me a lovely purple > color. > > No effect on the images, though. > > Best, > Jim Shulman > Wynnewood, PA > Who plans to shoots some 120 tomorrow (and shot three rolls of Neopan 100 > in his M2 today) > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: lug-bounces+jshulman=judgecrater.com at leica-users.org > [mailto:lug-bounces+jshulman=judgecrater.com at leica-users.org] On Behalf > Of > Mark Kronquist > Sent: Saturday, July 16, 2011 10:05 PM > To: Leica Users Group > Subject: [Leica] TEC Liquid Developer Question > > I realize that this is now the Leica M8 M9 List and film is but a distant > memory for most...that said, perhaps someone might be able to help here > > > 120 Efke R25 the Ortho Film > Rolleiflex 3.5E > > > TEC Liquid Concentrate 1:15 > 70 degrees 17 minutes > > Ilford Rapid Fix > > Wash > > > Negs look perfect yea > > Question though is the used developer came out a bright pink!
