It does work for me here on IE9 (and has always worked for me) . However anyone with a gallery can adjust their album settings to control what sizes are displayed (amongst other settings). Normally mine are set to display only a single size (that I typically use for any web post). In thumbnail view go to sidebar and select edit album then album. You can adjust the resized versions there.
