In the former Soviet Union they did a study of the peasant revolts, looking for legitimacy from the past for their project. As it turned out, peasant revolts are conservative reaction to the nobles changing the game plan after all the agreements were locked down. That also applied to the crafts, who apparently eventually led the way in the political discourses in addressing these covenantal breaches. Some things never change. S.d.
