Th canal is always fascinating - even the colour of the water changes depending on what the barges have churned up from its bed. Quite a nature reserve, too. We get badgers, foxes, stone martens, rabbits, a couple of hares, hedgehogs and no end of birds of all kinds - I haven't seen one yet, but the sound of nightingales singing on warm summer evenings is wonderful.
