You made me analyze why I have such hesitations, it seems and it is very simple, but it is also a certain mechanical fonctions in my head probably don't prepared for unexpected results. Usually my look to the images to catch is on B&W, except for certains cases that color mades the photo as in the abstracts composition, IMO the intelligent use of the color as a dramatic element on the pictures is really difficult, only few photographers cand do this, for me, generally the color add the element "beautiful" to a picture, but the discussion on the list about the differences in color and B&W is already an old and very well documented discussion. On this case, what happens to me?, my intention was do the pictures in B&W and I was surprised by the nice effects of the colors, a certain game "trompe l'oeil". I think this was a contradiction for me and I've worked to improve the results in B&W, and my conclusion was the same as you, the photograph of the chat is better and more rich in tones in color, the two ladies on the Zuirich Terrasse on backlight I prefer the B&W version where I've corrected the flare. Alan has said me if I go with an M to shot film on B&W I'll not have trhese questions, really, 100% agree, the digital give us the magic of the color to our eyes and "nous trompe l'oeil"... Maybe on the futur will exist an special sensor more close to the rendition of the classical B&W... Another usual problem I have on disgital are the blocked areas of highlights and the noise on the deep shadows on available light conditions. I think that sensor of the M9 has improved these aspects, IMO these points are not still perfects, or maybe I don't have enough digital skills... , I need some pixels more on my head...? Thanks a lot mon ami! cheers Lluis El 03/03/2011, a las 4:20, <tedgrant at shaw.ca> <tedgrant at shaw.ca> escribi?: > Lluis Ripoll ASKED: > Subject: [Leica] Asking your preferences > > >> I'm not decided if B&W or Color for these couple of pictures, your >> opinions and c&c will help, thank you very much in advance >> >> These with M8, Summilux 75 >> http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/luisrq/Barcelona/ >> L1018464BWS.jpg.html >> >> http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/luisrq/Barcelona/L1018464w.jpg.html >> >> >> These with M8, Tri Elmar >> http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/luisrq/Barcelona/L1018430w.jpg.html >> >> http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/luisrq/Barcelona/L1018430BWSw.jpg.html >> <<<<<<< > > Bon jour Lluis, > > The preference, colour or B&W?
