The new version is better corrected and may be worse but I mainly tested it for focus shift when I had it. If you're photographing for yourself and you care, this may be an issue, but it's unlikely a client will ever notice. There is always the C-V 35/1.2 which has much better oof rendition and also negligible focus shift, but lower contrast. That may suit some.
