This is from the Leica site: Updating the Firmware of the LEICA DIGITAL MODUL R: 1. Format a SD memory card as described in the instructions of the Digital Modul R (See p. 102). 2. Make sure that the battery of the Digital Modul R is totally charged. 3. Switch off both the camera and the Digital Modul R. 4. To download the firmware click on this site: (I changed this to the new link) http://us.leica-camera.com/service/downloads/software-_firmwareupdates/digital-modul_r/index.html<http://www.leica-camera.us/photography/r_system/digital-modul-r/> and unzip the file. Following file is visible now: LEICADMR.CIM 5. Insert a SD card into your card reader or connect the Digital Modul R - which must be set to the Disc mode to do so - to your computer via the fire wire interfaces (See instructions p. 103). 6. Save the firmware file ?LEICADMR.CIM? in the main register (top menu level) on the formatted SD card. 7. Remove the SD card properly from the card reader (See ?Removing hardware correctly? in the instructions of your computer). 8. Insert the SD card into the card slot on the Digital Modul R and close the flap over the card slot. 9. Switch on both the camera and the Digital Modul R. 10. Follow the instructions on the monitor of the Digital Modul R. The update is automatically implemented by the Digital Modul R within approx. 2 minutes. The following technical features are optimized by the Firmware Release 1.3: ? Improved colour rendering on the Digital-Modul-R display ? Adjustment of exposure ? Improved compatibility of SD cards with FAT 32 system /4 GB cards (not SDHC) ? Numerous internal procedures were implemented that optimise the general image reproduction and functional features of the Digital-Modul-R. Advice: In case of updating from version 1.1 to 1.3 the data format on the SD cards has been changed. Therefore the SD card has to be formatted after update.
