I agree the line is totally unacceptable, as is Leica's quality control in this case. I have recently seen someone get a replacement M9 (the first one he bought had enough problems for Leica to decide to replace it) and the new M9 had a problem with the LCD screen. The level of quality control is really disappointing given the price of these cameras.
