A few months ago, I screwed up and saved a botched file over a valuable file. I immediately relied on Time Machine to get a copy of the valuable file. Every single copy of it had been replaced by the botched file. It left me with the impression that Time Machine will give me a copy of the most previous situation, but won't help me take a step backward in time. I hoped that it would restore things as they were an hour before. If it can do that, I don't know how to do so.
