I don't know anything about LR, but if you will resize your image 
without interpolation to its final size (6x9), you should be OK. 16 bit 
is fine.  Since it is a b&w image, I suggest printing on the 1280 with 
QuadTone RIP (www.quadtonerip.com).  I usually use a curve for the paper 
of 55% warm tone and 45% cool, but of course that is a matter of taste.  
You can probably find curves for your paper on the quadtone yahoo 
group.  The QuadTone RIP is separate printing software and does not use 
PhotoShop or LR.
