Hi Luggers,
I have been off the LUG since late April when I was hosting my
youngest daughter's in-laws from Maine and then spending money for her
wedding dinner in Hong Kong. After that pleasant and fortunately sunny
event I went into the Matilda hospital in Hong Kong and had a 6 hour
sextant TLIF operation (google it if you're interested) to fuse my L5
and S1 vertebras together while keeping enough space for my sciatic
nerve to pass through using titanium screws and spacers. For airport
security I have a letter from my Doctor which I am going to laminate!
Just 12 days after the operation I flew to Canada to recover over the
summer. The operation and its recovery time are miracles of modern
medicine.
If anybody wants first person experience on expensive (US$46,000)
complicated back operations please do contact me off list. :-)
It's nice to be back. Did I miss anything important?
Cheers
Howard (now on sunny Pender Island with a long list of cabin chores to
do)
