The charger is identical everywhere with only the plug differing. Reading from the (genuine) battery, it is 3.7V /1800mAh /6.7Wh. I believe that some of the substitute batteries may be of a lower mAh rating but have not used any personally. Related to the solar charging, you should see our roof which now sports a 3KW Solar panel array (18 panels totalling about 21 square metres) that is fed back via an inverter into our state grid for credits towards our power bill ;-) Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman On 8 June 2010 11:56, George Lottermoser <imagist3 at mac.com> wrote: > The M8 and DMR came with "cigarette lighter" adapters for their chargers. > This leads me to believe that even the AC steps down to 12 V DC. > Sound right? > > > Regards, > George Lottermoser > george at imagist.com > http://www.imagist.com > http://www.imagist.com/blog > http://www.linkedin.com/in/imagist > > On Jun 7, 2010, at 8:50 PM, Lawrence Zeitlin wrote: > > In general, unless you are hiking on the Appalachian trail or kayaking in >> the Pacific Northwest, it might be better to use a charger that plugs into >> your auto cigarette lighter socket.
