It is an ongoing project and there are pictures from all over the world, you get only a small sample to see on the website and they are ordered by continents. The pictures are less formal and more documentary than those of Colliers; you get to see some stunning landscapes, but also cities and people, which I like very much. The pictures of that ongoing series (which begun around year 2000) are a call for "saving the earth". Extract of the author's own comment on the series : "Year 2000 was almost upon us, and I wanted to tackle an ambitious long-term project. Since the lions, nature has been one of my chief concerns, though I was then less committed to sustainable development and more interested in the preservation of exceptional sites. However, working on location soon made me realise that Man cannot be dissociated from the landscape. Gradually, I became convinced that supporting the theories on sustainability was the way towards a reasoned form of development." (you can read more in the "backstage" section, where he describes how he undertook this project. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Oliver Bryk" <oliverbryk at comcast.net> To: <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Monday, May 31, 2010 3:59 PM Subject: [Leica] OT: Michael Collier's Aerial Photography > http://tinyurl.com/3dw8wa >
