I agree that this superb beer is worthy of its own portrait. Marty did just that for you at the table that afternoon http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/hoppyman/2/tk.jpg.html Regarding the feel of the focus rings on this lens and the Summilux 50 ASPH. as Marty noted they share a similar design with the floating element to improve close in performance. When I first got the Summilux 50 I read the general advice about some of them having overly firm focus actions. I confess that I cycled the focus ring many several thousand times, effectively putting years of wear on the mechanism adjustment. Fast forward two years or so and I was in Solms and had my M8 upgraded (now sold). The technician offered to check both these lenses and he handed the 50 to the Customer Service Division Head as well. Three seconds operation of the focus ring and he said, we will fix it. http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/123115387 They took both lenses and tested them . "Yyour lenses are good, we can make them better". Which they did (and for free). The technician explained to me that it was vital for the best accuracy that there be no discernible play in the movement, else focusing to the same point from near to far or vice versa may not be perfectly consistent. I can only comment that I'd never noted any focus error (except self induced) beforehand but both lenses now are superb.
