I guess maybe the subjects are far away but look closer because the air was so clear. I also like Carl Weese's explanation here: http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2007/07/normal-lens-uni.html the 50 is a chameleon. There are a lot more, no need to worry on that front. Glad you enjoyed them.
