Last year at this time, visiting my folks for Easter in Eastern Long
Island, I took the kids down the beach near the house which involve a
longish walk through a steep gully path. On the way back through
the gully path I spotted about 4 or 5 deer about 30 yards away and
above us and stopped to point them out to my kids. I expected them
to run away but was surprised as they made advancements down the
gully towards us instead. At about 20 yards I could see through the
trees how emaciated they all were and wondered if they were
considering trying to eat us. I didn't stop to satisfy my suspicions
and stepped-up the pace out of the wood.
