For direct downloads, I use one of these gizmos with a 500GB drive: http://www.hypershop.com/ They now have an attachment to directly tranfer from a Hyperdrive to an external hard drive as well, for a second backup. What I find useful is that as the hard drives fill up, I just replace them, and I just store the original as a permanent back up.
