At the risk of offending Leica M8 users, my searches tell me that there is a family kinship between the Kodak CCD sensors used in the E-1 and the M8. Both have the same pixel pitch, differing mainly in sensor size and the presence or absence of a filter on the sensor. In round numbers, the E-1 has 22K pixels per square millimeter, while the M8 has 20K. That is close enough to make me happy with the E-1.
