From an ethnographic perspective I try to get myself involved in the perspective of my subject when human. Difficult, tres difficult but rewarding. That's why the simple portrait is still the most powerful visual image. Rather then photograph the folks hanging out on my corner from the outside perspective, If I get into their world a bit, close enough to make portraits, then I feel as though I have achieved something.
