[Leica] Is it worth buying a pre-loved R4 or R3 if only Leica can fix it?

Paul,
I would suggest a R6.2, so that you are not at anyone's mercy in years
to come on repairing or replacing the electronic bits and pieces
within, this is the one I have retained.
