My Rolex has served me well for 20 years now, and is currently getting its second cleaning and adjust by a local watch tech who, so far has gone over it, and it has come back better than original, and at half the cost of Rolex cleaning and adjust work. I have had Seiko's and others they just do not hold up on my wrist. Joseph, where do you find Grand Seiko watches? Rolex is very mass-market, producing 800,000 to 900,000 watches a year. There is no exclusivity whatsoever. Quality is so-so, and a touch overpriced for what is offered. Their strength is marketing. Much of the retail price of a Rolex goes to advertising and marketing etc. For something fancier, this is my dream watch, not that I can afford it: http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/hybris-mechanica/ http://ablogtoread.com/jaeger-lecoultre/jaeger-lecoultre-hybris-mechanica-gr ande-sonnerie-thoughts-on-the-most-complicated-watch-in-the-world/ Yours for US$2.5 million. Another worthy contender is the Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 4? Grande Sonnerie Westminster Carillon http://www.perpetuelle.com/NewsDetails.aspx?NewsId=144 http://hubpages.com/hub/Worlds-Most-Expensive-Watch-by-Franck-Muller Yours for US$2.7 million. I guess these make our Leica M9 seem cheap! :-) Joseph On 28/01/2010 12:36 AM, "Steve Unsworth" <lug at steveunsworth.co.uk> wrote: > This is a definition of "mid price" that I'm sure many of us don't > recognise. > > Steve > > > On 27/1/10 16:04, "Joseph Yao" <joseph at yao.com> wrote: > >> Rolex offer mid-price watches that are ideal for causal use... > > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
