We're are being governed by fools in a world gone mad!
Last August I flew to the Queen Charlottes from Vancouver with a couple of
my fishing buddies. We spent five days off the west coast of Canada fishing
every day, never setting foot on land, until we flew back in a float plane to
the airport at Sandspit in the Queen Charlottes to catch that day's flight
back to Vancouver. On the mother-ship we met a couple of retired RCMP
officers on the ship in their 70's that had been posted together in Aberta
for years, incidently they both retired from very senior positions in the
police service. Both were very nice guys and the type of cop's that came
from the old school of "common sense". This school seems to have been
subsequently closed as it seems cops and other security types with common
sense are primarily the exception rather then the rule.
Well these two guys were about a minute shy of missing the flight back to
Vancouver as a result of the lame-brained security nearly having one of
these guy's completely undress to get passed through airport security before
they could proceed. One of these guys ending up back on the plane with his
wristwatch safely back at airport security. Neither ex-cop said a word but
the rest of us found it unbeliveable that airport security had to
"intensely" screen retired police officers.
We usually fly south to Arizona this time of year. We're putting it off this
year in the hope that some sanity will reappear at the airports in Canada
and the US.
