But the most amazing appliance we have it this: http://www.tefal.com/All+Products/Cooking+appliances/Fryers/Products/ActiFry/Actifry.htm One tablespoon of olive oil and 45 minutes in this thing is all it takes to convert 1 kg of sliced potatoes into perfect, golden Belgian fries. I have lived in Belgium. I know what proper fries taste like. These are just as good, but without the deep frying and the health risks that stem from that. It is not cheap, but it is worth every cent/penny. (And it can also be used to cook other root vegetables).
