Yesterday I had a very difficult drive to Madrid (430 km each way) to pick up my wife and children returning from Puerto Rico. Snow and pileups on the motorway. In Alicante itself of course no snow or freezing, but when we arrived back in town at 4 p.m., the car's thermometer indicated only +8C (46F or so), making it the coldest day of the winter so far.
