Get a chrome one of you can, it looks much nicer. Some of the early V2 chrome lenses were actually native screw mount lenses with SM to M adapters cemented on using shellac. If you take off the adapter you have a very nice lens to use on your IIIg or Canon RF body. The V 2 lenses had either scalloped or milled focus rings, the scalloped ones being earlier production. Remember there were also two types of V3, the rare one had 49mm filter threads. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stan Yoder" <s.yoder at verizon.net> To: <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Friday, 27 November, 2009 8:55 AM Subject: [Leica] Summicron 90 versions >I dunno how accurate Sartorius is with s/n ranges, but he says: > > v.2 is from "approx. 1,651,000 to approx. 3,013,000." > > v.3 is from "approx. 2,800,000 to approx. 3,750,000." > > Thus an overlap, yes? > > Quoted weights are 685gm and 410gm, respectively. > > I notice from photos that v.2 has a scalloped focus ring, while v.3 has a > smooth one.
