Sandy, supported by some other L Camera Forum members hase done some good work on this and Leica's engineers are following. The diffuser in this case is a very even and diffuse studio light bank used for a well controlled worst case test. If you follow to the second part a correction has been developed for post. Keep in mind this has been found present with the 18 in this worst case (and some wider third party lenses).
